Since ADM football’s 55-14 blowout win over Atlantic on Sept. 18, the Tigers have lost three straight. But ADM perhaps isn’t as bad as its record indicates, as the team has been in each of the last three games.
First came a 6-3 overtime loss to Winterset in which the offense never could gain traction. In each of the next two games, at home against Creston two weeks ago and against Glenwood on Friday, ADM (3-4, 1-4) hung with those more talented opponents for the first half, only to fall apart in the second half of both games.
ADM hopes for a complete effort against another tough opponent Friday night. The Tigers head to Norwalk for a showdown with the seventh-ranked Wariors (6-1) in non-district play.
Tigers head coach Mike Whisner said close losses are the most difficult type to swallow.
“It takes a lot out of you when you’re in a game and its tight and you just can’t quite make enough plays to win, emotionally that’s a draining process,” he said. “Any time you’re not on the winning end it’s tough, but that emotion – because we play with a lot of emotion and the last two games we’ve been right in it at halftime. The other teams were better and ended up winning the game but we’ve gotta find a way to do that.”
