Brady Brandsfield enjoyed a career night, ADM imploded in the second quarter and Norwalk ran away with a 38-7 victory Friday night at Mineart Field in Norwalk, in a game that was decided by halftime.
Brandsfield, Norwalk’s third-year starting quarterback, finished 17-of-25 for 265 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions, leading the Warriors (7-1) to a second-quarter demolition of the Tigers.
ADM played well in the first quarter, limiting Norwalk to just a Zach Krieder 33-yard field goal. But after the Tigers (3-5) forced a Norwalk fourth down at midfield, punter A.J. Tabatabai executed a fake pass for the first down, which lead to a Brandsfield 28-yard strike to Justin South just 1:10 into the second quarter.
From there, the rout was officially on.
Later in the quarter, Brandsfield threw touchdown passes to Devin Pirkle and Klay Klocko, sandwiched around a Coby Clocko one-yard touchdown run, as the Warriors outscored ADM 28-0 in the second quarter for a commanding 31-0 halftime lead.
The Tigers got their only score of the night with 7:28 to play on senior Blake Crannell’s 4-yard touchdown run, his first of the season.
Norwalk outgained ADM 356-206 and forced five Tiger turnovers, including three interceptions by senior quarterback Frank Weiland, who was 13-of-22 for 133 yards.
For good measure, Brandsfield, the do-it-all junior quarterback, added 50 yards rushing on nine carries and a touchdown.
ADM wraps up the season next Friday with a district contest at the Harlan Cyclones.
