Perry’s Academic Cultural Enrichment Services is celebrating National Lights On Afterschool Day with a pair of events.
Director Mary Hillman says this is the sixteenth year Perry has participated in the event that serves as both a fundraiser and celebration.
“(Wednesday) we will be at the high school track, Kaufman track, and students will be walking from3-5pm. They will be accepting pledges from either community members, parents or families for each lap walked or a flat fee donation. That money all goes back to helping our students with the program because we do charge a sliding fee scale to attend, so everyone does pay something to attend the program.”
Then on Thursday there will be a special program that includes a mayoral proclamation, awards and a talent show.
The fundraising goal is to beat last year’s record and bring in more than $1,800. If you’d like to donate to find out more about how you can help support PACES, visit their Facebook page HERE, or stop by the PACES office at the elementary school.
