Greene County has completed the high school volleyball regular season at 15 wins and 21 losses. Head coach Donna Carhill started the season with just one player with any varsity experience after 11 seniors graduated from the 2014 squad. Only junior Nadia Fisher had played varsity volleyball previous to this season.

The coach was pleased with a three-set sweep of Perry on Monday of this week in the Jayettes’ gym, and gave credit for that victory to playing in last Saturday’s Johnston Tournament, even though the Rams didn’t win a match there. “I think the Johnston Tournament  helps us immensely. We looked better defensively and we probably blocked as many balls as we’ve blocked all season. We played defense really well. The hard competition that we play helps us when we get to this point.”

Hard competition is what the Rams expect to face when they open Class 3A regional tournament play on Monday, Oct. 26 vs. number one ranked Kuemper Catholic at Kuemper HS in Carroll at 7 p.m.
