Greene County’s football team did not make the playoffs this season, but seven of their nine opponents did, and four of those teams will be playing tonight when second round games get underway. Greene County was in Class 3A District 2, where undefeated district champion Webster City (10-0) is at home tonight vs. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley. Carroll was the district runner-up and the Tigers travel northwest to face Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
The Rams also met two non-district teams that are still playing in 3A Creston and Class 1A South Central Calhoun. The Panthers travel to defending State Champion and undefeated Pella tonight while the Titans are home in Lake City vs. Ridge View (Holstein).
The Rams (4-5, 2-4) defeated SCC 42-28 to start the season. They lost 36-32 at Creston, fell at home to third ranked WC 36-32, and ended the season with a 28-13 loss to Carroll after leading 7-0 at halftime.
