A Polaris Ranger Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) is the most recently acquired tool that law enforcement and emergency agencies in Adair and Guthrie counties can use.
The vehicle is owned by Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management, but Coordinator Bob Kempf says agencies in both counties have 24/7 access to use it.
The vehicle is transported on a 14 foot trailer and comes equipped with a KimTek MedBed, used to transport injured or sick patients, and a radio for communications with dispatch centers in both counties.
Much of the $28,000 used to pay for the project came from grants. The Schildberg Foundation contributed $15,000, Guthrie County Community Foundation gave $5,000 and West Central Cooperative awarded $1,500. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management provided the remaining $4,500 out of their budget and also supplied the radio equipment, valued at $2,000.
Guthrie County Emergency Management Commission Chairman Jeremy Cooper says the project would not have been possible without the cooperation of both public and private sector partners.
