The fourth DAISY Award winner at Greene County Medical Center was announced on Thursday at a special ceremony.
November’s winner was Desiree Monaghan, who is a nurse and case manager in the quality management department. She’s been nominated three times for the DAISY Award and she tells Raccoon Valley Radio her reaction when she had won.
“It feels amazing. It was quite a shock that I was the actual winner. I did not expect it at all, but it’s really an honor to be up here with all these amazing people.”
Six other nominees were up for the bi-annual award and they included Kelsey Stumbo, Abby Skoglund, Katie Palmer, Jeanne Hoening, Karen Carman and Sarah Borgeson. Each were nominated by co-workers, community members or patients and their families. Monaghan says teamwork is the key component to making the medical center a success.
“I really think that everybody is apart of our team. I couldn’t have done any of this or had any of these nominations without any of the staff that I work with. From the physical therapy, to the dietary to my other fellow nurses, it’s everybody.”
The award is given to a nurse that show exceptional patient care.
The next DAISY Award will be next May.
