dallas county roadsThis year has been a busy one for the Dallas County secondary roads department.

Between flooding issues and construction projects, Engineer Al Miller says they’ve had their hands full.

“We spent a lot of time dealing with (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) and getting through that (disaster declaration) paperwork and that process.  As well as a number of construction projects that we were trying to get finished up this year.”

Miller says fortunately there was a window of nice weather toward the end of the construction season that allowed them to get some projects wrapped up.  Though some of their efforts, like the F-31 grading project, will have to be revisited once the weather warms back up.

“We are going to come back on F-31 and have about a six mile paving project that will start next construction season.  So that section we worked on, about a mile and a half section, will be a granular surface over the winter time because we want to get through that freeze and thaw cycle and let things settle before we do pave it.”

We will hear more from Miller on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours.
