Five year permit to carry applications for gun owners were first made available to Iowans in 2011 and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office is expecting to see an influx of renewals as we near 2016.

As a reminder, weapons permits in Dallas County are now available online only.  Residents have the option of ordering one online with their credit or debit card or using cash in-person at the Sheriff’s office in Adel weekdays between the hours of 8am and 3:30pm.  Those who apply in-person will still have to go through the same online process through a kiosk and may need to make a return visit once the application is approved.

Those obtaining a permit to carry for the first time do need to complete one of the various training requirements and must be a U.S. citizen, resident of Dallas County, at least 21 years of age and provide a valid photo identification.

The cost for a new permit is $55, while renewals or duplicates are $30.
