Beta Tau Delta is once again sponsoring their annual Virtual Charity Ball for Greene County.
The children’s charity sorority decided to change from hosting an actual charity ball to a virtual charity ball eight years ago, but still deliver the same message of helping out Greene County youth. This year’s shopping guide includes items for a “Bahama Beach Christmas” theme. Some of the items include palm trees with Christmas lights, a mounted swordfish as wall decor, rum cakes and Bahama Mama’s along with entertainment with Jimmy Buffet. All proceeds will go back to Beta Tau Delta.
Organizer Carole Custer says having a virtual charity ball is a win-win event because no one has to get dressed up and go anywhere, but you can still make donations to help area youth.
Some of the projects that the sorority helped with last year includes the Webb House utility bills, a trip to the Blank Park Zoo for Greene County and Paton-Churdan 2nd graders, four $500 college scholarships for Greene County High School graduates, dental screenings and follow-up dental work for students, the high school prom, swaddling blankets for newborns at Greene County Medical Center, Adopt-A-Family and Greene County High School music department expenses.
The shopping guides are available at The Printer’s Box, Fudge’s Flowers and Gifts, Royal Jewelers and Ben Franklin. You can also have one mailed to you by contacting Joan Lang at 386-4428. Custer says all donations are welcomed, even if some people may not wish to play along with the Virtual Ball. Checks should be made out to Beta Tau Delta, and mailed to the sorority in care of Treasurer Anita Van Horn, 102 East State Street, Jefferson, Iowa 50129. All donations are tax-deductible.
