Greene County ExtensionTomorrow is the private pesticide applicator recertification training course at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson.

It will be at Clover Hall on Tuesday from 1:30 to 3:30pm.  Greene County Extension Office Assistant Laura Ballard says the class is for anyone looking to be recertified for the 2016 year.  There have been several commercial pesticide applicator training courses, but Ballard points out that Tuesday’s workshop is different.

“Private pesticide applicator certification is for people who farm and apply chemicals to ground that they own or ground that they rent for their own purposes.  Commercial applicators has to do with people who for instance work for a co-op or who run a lawn care business.”

Those who have been through a recertification course, should have received a brochure in the mail with your certification number.  You are asked to bring that information with you tomorrow.  You must be in your seat by no later than 1:30pm sharp, no late entries will be allowed, due to Iowa law.  Refreshments are provided by Home State Bank.  The spring session is scheduled for March 15th.

The cost is $20 and it will be led by Extension Field Agronomist Mark Johnson.  Pre-registration is not required.  Call the Extension office for more information at 386-2138.
