Emotions might run high tonight when the Perry Bluejays travel to Grimes to battle Dallas Center Grimes in an impressive early season showdown.  The Mustangs ended Perry’s dreams of a state tournament last year by edging the Bluejays in overtime in the substate final.  Both teams return a strong nucleus of players who took part in last year’s clash.

“I think this is the most athletic group that we have had here at Perry in quite some time,” added Head Coach Ned Menke.  “We had such a great senior class last year and the guys had played a lot with each other through the years.  This season, it might be a little different just because we have some younger guys stepping in for us.  These first few games will be all about identifying our strengths and finding the right roles for a number of our guys.  I think it is a long term benefit to have so many difficult non conference games lined up again this year.”

Perry is 2-0 on the season.  You can listen to the Bluejays with Shawn Kenney tonight beginning at 7:30 on KDLS.
