Jefferson Police DeptAdditional charges have been filed against a Jefferson man who led police on a chase last month.

According to Jefferson Police reports, 54 year-old Michael Lynn Heard is charged with aggravated misdemeanors for assault on a persons in certain occupations causing bodily injury and third degree criminal mischief, serious misdemeanors for interference with official acts causing bodily injury and eluding, and simple misdemeanors for reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.

The charges stem from an incident on November 24th when an officer arrested Heard on a Boone County probation violation.  Officers allowed Heard to go back to his vehicle to get some personal items, but he jumped into his vehicle and sped off. A short chase came to a halt at the middle school where Heard was apprehended, but not before a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy suffered a muscle contusion in his hand.

Police Chief Dave Morlan adds that Heard will also face felony charges for an unrelated forgery investigation.

Heard remains in the Boone County Jail for a probation violation.
