New Jersey Governor Chris Christie recently stopped in Jefferson to campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.
With less than a week to go until the fifth Republican candidate debate, Christie says he’s not worried about polling numbers that have him trailing behind other frontrunners.
“This race is changing everyday. Dr. (Ben) Carson was way ahead in this race (and) ahead of Donald Trump, now he’s falling back to third or fourth place. These things change quickly because the race is fluid.”
We are also less than two months away from the Iowa Caucus, ahead of the New Hampshire Primary, and Christie points out that both are important in determining a successful candidate.
“They’re equally important because you have to do well in either or both to be able to advance. And why you’ll see me spending just as much time in Iowa between now and caucus day as New Hampshire.”
Christie adds that he can only control his effort and his ability to get people together, which may not have any effect on the polls between now and the middle of January. But, he believes he is going to make a huge impact on Iowans before the caucus.
