The fourth annual Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity Nativity Festival is this weekend in Jefferson.
The event starts with a public viewing of several nativity scenes in the basement of the First United Methodist Church at 2:30pm on Sunday. Plus, some nativities are part of a silent auction, along with a one-of-a-kind rocking chair. Following the display will be a community concert at 4pm.
The concert will feature solos from Gary Haupert, Danielle Johnson, Doyle Carlson and Greene County High School senior and three-time all-state qualifier David Petersen. There will also be a piano duet from Danille Curtis and Reverend Julie Paulsen, a poem by Tori Riley and a combined performance by the methodist church and Central Christian Church, followed by the massed choir singing the final two songs. Anyone still interested in performing in the choir are encouraged to attend one final rehearsal at 3pm.
A soup supper will follow the concert with homemade chili, chicken noodle soup and desserts to be served for a freewill donation. The popular pie auction will conclude the event.
This is Habitat for Humanity in Greene County’s only fundraiser of the year to help their efforts of repairing and building low-income housing in the County.
