KG98-GenericNumerous law enforcement agencies were involved in a high speed chase through multiple counties early Saturday morning.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office reports that at about 2:06 a.m. a deputy tried to stop a blue Buick with a broken taillight traveling south on N Avenue near 190th street.

The Buick fled at speeds near 100 miles per hour. The vehicle continued east on Highway 30 before turning south on Highway 144, where the Jefferson Police Department joined the chase.

Additional assistance was provided by the Boone County Sheriff’s office, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Perry Police Department and Iowa State Patrol as the chase entered Dallas County.

The chase ended just west of Dallas Center, on 230th Street, where the Buick’s driver, Zachary Wailes, of Breda, lost control of his vehicle. Wailes was originally wanted on a warrant out of Carroll County and has now been charged with felony eluding, felony drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and several other traffic violations.
