Dallas County Supervisors Meeting Preview
The Dallas County Board of Supervisors will meet in regular session Tuesday.
Items on the agenda include consideration of fiscal year 2016 appropriations, a Community Attraction and Tourism grant funding request and consideration of a bridge inspection consultant contract.
The Board will then further discuss the proposed subscription agreement with IAM Responding, appoint a Board Chairman, approve the 25th change order for the human services campus renovation project and discuss department space needs.
The meeting takes place at 9am in the Board of Supervisors meeting room in Adel.
Perry Storm Water Fees to Increase for the First Time Since 2008
Perry residents will soon see an increase on their water bill.
The City Council approved a two-dollar increase at their most recent meeting. Each resident will now be charged five dollars per month. It’s the first increase since 2008.
City Administrator Sven Peterson says the recommendation to increase the fee was made so the City has more funds available to take care of storm water issues.
“This has previously paid for a lot of our camera work and inspection work and cleaning of our sewer system. From here on out, some of the possibilities, a couple things that we’ve done is put in sump pump lines throughout a block to pick up sump pump lines so that they’re not so that they’re not going into the sanitary sewer or out into the street and causing issues. So not only taking care of the flooding we have in the summer but some of the other issues we have year round.”
Peterson says the increase will be in effect starting January 1st and residents will start seeing the five-dollar charge starting with their February water bill.
