West Central Valley WildcatA probable whole-grade sharing agreement between Guthrie Center and Adair-Casey Schools could affect athletics at West Central Valley High School.

West Central Valley Activities Director Tod Broman says because the boys and girls soccer teams share a program with Adair-Casey, they would be affected if the whole grade sharing agreement passes. “If we wanted to continue our sharing of soccer with Adair-Casey, we would have to take in Guthrie Center as well. That would mean including their student population and that would affect our classification for both boys and girls soccer.”

Because Guthrie Center doesn’t currently have a soccer team, it’s unlikely they would send many student-athletes on the 40 mile round trip to practice in Stuart each weekday during the season, but their enrollment would still reflect against the soccer program and cause them to face much bigger and more difficult competition in a higher class.

Broman will tell us more about the situation today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
