We could be in for some more snow this week, which means our city, county and state roads crews will be on alert in order to make sure we can travel as safety as possible.

Perry Public Works Director Jack Butler says they have the snow removal process down to a science.

“Everybody’s got a route.  We team up and hit some main stuff first in groups.  There’s guys downtown, there’s guys in the small little tractors from the parks department and they’re hitting sidewalks.  We do the police department; we’ve got parking lots.  Everybody’s got a route that they run, it’s really smooth.  The guys all know what they’ve got to do and it works really well.”

Butler says when it’s a big storm they take an all hands on deck approach with help from the street. parks and cemetery departments.

As long as the roads are clear of cars, Butler says they can typically clear off area streets within a 6-7 hour period.
