The first action of 2016 is Thursday, Jan. 7 for the Greene County High School wrestling team, and once the Rams hit the mat in Jewell vs. South Hamilton and PCM (Monroe), they’ll have just one month before the sectional tournament and postseason wrestling. Head Coach Mark Sawhill told Raccoon Valley Radio what the points of emphasis moving forward will be. “We’ll look at each dual we wrestle and look at the things we need to clean up as we go through. As far as learning completely new things, probably not so much, although we might throw one or two things in there to help them out. We’ll be looking to help them get their mental funk on, if you want to call it that, to look at the postseason and what they need to do there.”
The Rams are 0-13 in dual meets due largely to the high amount of forfeits given up. The Rams haven’t had more than six of the 14 weight classes filled so far this season. Coach Sawhill is hopeful that number will grow somewhat, to perhaps eight or nine, this month.
