The Greene County Chamber Annual Dinner was held Monday night at the Jefferson Elks Lodge.
The highlight of the evening was the 2015 Above and Beyond the Call Award winner, which was Diane Blackmer. She volunteers with the Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary and is the site manager for the Action Resource Center. She told Raccoon Valley Radio how surprised she was to win the volunteerism award.
“I was overwhelmed. One of my friends told me that I was suppose to come and talk about the food pantry tonight, so I was prepared to do that, not to be recognized for it. It’s a huge honor, it really is.”
Blackmer added that it’s because of all the volunteers that she’s blessed to work with that makes everything she does to help out the community and make it a better place.
Other highlights of the evening include membership milestones recognizing 22 businesses for 495 years as Chamber members. The Chamber board officers will continue to serve in their same positions for 2016 with Omega Sang as president on a temporary basis, Tori Reilly as secretary and Nikki Uebel as treasurer.
The event ended with a special guest speaker, Scott Siepker, the Iowa Nice Guy talking about Iowa as an up and coming state on the national scale.
