The Perry City Council met in regular session Monday.
At the meeting, City Administrator Sven Peterson said the first round of budget work sessions took place last week and went well. The Council budget work session will take place January 28th at 8am. Peterson said he, Police Chief Eric Vaughn and Fire Chief Chris Hinds also met with Congressman David Young recently to discuss federal grant fundings and public safety financial needs.
The 2013 comprehensive plan was then reviewed. Peterson went through some of the improvements that were mentioned in the plan’s implementation recommendations. This includes upgrades to sewer systems, street maintenance, wayfinding, sidewalk reconstruction, bike and trail improvements, increase partnerships, establish Perry as a recreational destination, complete additional studies on facilities, build a soccer complex and keep securing trail right-of-ways. Overall, Peterson says the City is on track and has accomplished or made progress on several of these items.
Several professional services agreements were then approved. The first for the Willis Avenue bridge project, not to exceed $40,000; the second for the 2016 Hot Mix Asphalt Street Rehabilitation project, not to exceed $18,000; and the third for the waste water treatment facilities, not to exceed $30,000. Bolton and Menk will work with the City on all three projects.
A public hearing in regards to plans, specifications and bids for the Pattee Park Expansion Project was then set for the February 16th Council meeting.
Finally, David Barkley and Patrick Eastman were approved as additions to the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
