The home portion of the high school wrestling season for the Greene County Rams began on Jan. 14. The last home action for the Rams is tonight, is what is likely one of the shorter spans of time for the home schedule (five days). Tonight, Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams host non-conference opponents Guthrie Center and South Central Calhoun (Lake City). The Tigers have a fine wrestling tradition and the Titans are ranked eighth in Class 1A. Starting time is 6 p.m.

Greene County has not been able to fill more than half of the 14 weight classes and that will likely continue tonight. The forfeits are a major reason the Rams are 0-17 in dual meets. The wrestlers that Coach Sawhill does put out on the mat actually have a cumulative record of 100 wins and 75 losses. Leading the way is senior Tommy Bradshaw at 152 lbs. He is 23-0 this season and is ranked fourth in Class 2A by The Predicament. Bradshaw has a 99-9 record for Greene County over the last 2-1/2 seasons, and is 132-24 overall counting his freshman year of high school in Missouri.

Former Greene County student Logan Scheuermann leads Guthrie Center. The junior is 28-2 and ranked fifth in 1A at 138 lbs.

SCC has a pair of unbeaten and highly rated wrestlers in seniors Ty Riley ranked number two at 195, and Ryan Richardson, the number one rated wrestler in 1A at 220 lbs. Both enter tonight with 33-0 records.

After tonight, the next competition for the Rams is Saturday, Jan. 23 in Nevada for the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tournament at 10 a.m.
