Perry youths David Roberts and Drake Levan, representing Elks Lodge 407, won the 12-13 year old boys and 8-9 boys District Hoop Shoot in Storm Lake on Saturday.

The format requires each contestant to shoot 25 free throws. Roberts advanced in the 12-13 division connecting on 22 of his shots, draining the last 17. Levan connected on 19 to finish in a tie, but went on to hit all 5 shots in a shootout to win by 1. He defeated entrants from Ames, Estherville, Jefferson, and Sioux City.

The victories qualify Roberts and Levan for the State Hoop Shoot, which will be held February 27th at Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA. A win at state would qualify the entrants to move onto the North Central Region 3 Hoop Shoot Semi-Finals in Iowa City on March 19th.
