The Annual Greene County Football Clinic, scheduled for Jan. 29-30, has been cancelled. Clinic Director Kevin Paulsen announced the news on Thursday via email to Raccoon Valley Radio. In large part the email read, “Due to the lack of registrations, we cannot in good conscience continue to lose money as we have the last few years. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Those who have registered, your money will be returned.”
Appreciation for the support shown for more than 40 years of the clinic was expressed. Speakers had been lined up for Jan. 29 at Power Lift in Jefferson, and on Jan. 30 at Wild Rose Casino & Resort Jefferson. This was going to be the first time the clinic was not held in early March, and also the first time at least part of the clinic wasn’t going to be conducted at the high school in Jefferson.
Over the years some of the biggest coaching names in college football, along with hundreds of high school, and some professional coaches, spoke at the clinic. Woody Hayes, Bobby Bowden, Hayden Fry, Kirk Ferentz, Don James, Tom Osborne, Glen Mason, Gale Sayres, Lee Corso, and many others headlined the clinic over parts of five decades.
