We have new information about the fire that destroyed the Jefferson Pizza Ranch overnight.

Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse says the State Fire Marshal’s office will be investigating the cause of the fire that started just after midnight Wednesday.

Fire Chief Randy Love says when they arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the building. Fire crews broke a window to gain access and were able to extinguish the flames in the kitchen and between the layers of the ceiling. However, because there was so much smoke, three nearby businesses to the south, including H&R Block and Greene Bean Coffee, had heavy smoke damage, but the fire was contained to the restaurant.

No one was inside Pizza Ranch at the time of the incident and no one was hurt. The building is considered to be a total loss. Crews were on scene for over six hours.
