Greene County Supervisors to Meet Tomorrow
The Greene County Board of Supervisors will meet tomorrow.
The Board will consider for approval the Compensation Board’s recommendation of 2.5 percent raise for county department heads, the Sheriff’s quarterly report and another set of privacy policies for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
The Board will also hear updates with Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan, along with the 2017 fiscal year budget.
It begins at 8:30am in the boardroom of the courthouse in Jefferson.
Greene County Caucus Site Reminders and the Importance of Caucusing
Tomorrow will be caucus day in Iowa.
District 24 State Senator Jerry Behn says the caucuses allow Iowa to be put in the national spotlight and it gives people a reason to be interested in our political process.
“That activity it generates and the real chance we as Iowans get to vet all these candidates and find out which one we like the best. I sure hope that everybody can get out and go to their caucuses and get involved and get a chance to be heard and get a chance to pick the next President of the United States.”
For those planning to participate in Greene County, here is a reminder of both the Democratic and Republican parties locations.
There are five locations for the Democratic Party. Jefferson precincts one, two and three will be at the Greene County High School, while the central precinct will be at the Jefferson City Hall Council Chambers. The north precinct will be at the Churdan Community Center, the east precinct will be at St. Brigid Parish Center in Grand Junction and west precinct’s site is at the Scranton Community Center. Doors open at 6:30pm and the caucus starts at 7pm.
As for the Republican Party, there are seven locations. Jefferson precinct 1 will report to the third floor of the Greene County Courthouse, precinct 2 will be at the Abundant Life Ministries Church and precinct 3 is at the Greene County Elementary School. The central precinct’s site is at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds, the north precinct will be at the Paton-Churdan School in Churdan, the west precinct must report to the Scranton Community Center and the east precinct will be at the Grand Junction Community Center. Doors open at 6pm and the caucus will start at 7pm.
