Going into the conference tournament, the rest of the Raccoon River Conference had been privy about this season’s ADM Tiger wrestling team, but on Saturday, the entire conference experienced the complete dominance of ADM wrestling all at once as the Tigers easily took the crown.
The Tigers dominated the entire tournament with a tournament best 17 team pins, and took the top spot with 229 total team points, 39 points ahead of second place Ballard. The entire Tiger wrestling team made mince meat of the conference as ADM placed twelve wrestlers; of those twelve 5 earned first place, 3 wrestlers earned 2nd place, and the other four places were made up of two third and two fourth place finishers each. From the talented freshmen of Andrew Flora (106 lbs), Hogan Hopewell (120 lbs), Nolan Harsh (113 lbs), Caleb Buse (132 lbs), and Chris Johnston (138 lbs) to veterans such as Zach Johnston (160lbs), Nathan Heath (285 lbs), Cole Bennett (182 lbs), and Hunter Gibson (220lbs), the ADM Tigers put their well rounded talent on full display Saturday.
Two time state tournament runner up Zach Johnston, currently ranked 2nd in the class 2A 160 lb weight class by the Predicament, was one of ADM’s three top ten ranked wrestlers who placed first in the tournament after taking down Winterset’s Caleb Grose by Technical Fall. Fellow returning state qualifiers Cole Bennett (ranked 5th in class 2A at 182 lbs) and Nathan Heath (ranked 3rd in class 2A 285 lbs) also earned first place. Senior Hunter Gibson and freshmen Nolan Harsh rounded out ADM’s first place finishers. Andrew Flora, Chris Johnston, and Kade Overton (195 lbs) were the second place finishers for ADM. Hogan Hopewell and Luke Huen (152 lbs) were ADM’s two third place finishers while Caleb Button (145 lbs) and freshmen Caleb Buse were ADM’s fourth place finishers.
The team placements are as follows:
1.) ADM- 229 points

3.) Carlisle- 154 points
4.) Carroll- 148.5 points
5.) Perry- 147 points
