Two Greene County farmers were recently recognized by the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) for their leadership efforts.
Jefferson resident Mike Bravard was honored with the Environmental Stewardship Award. The third-generation farmer uses conservation tillage nitrogen stabilizers, cover crops and maintains terraces, buffers and waterways with conservation practices. He also worked with ISA to install a bioreactor to improve nutrient management practices on his farm.
Roy Bardole of Rippey was the recipient of the Legacy of Leadership Award. His is a fifth-generation farmer that’s no stranger to the soybean industry. He is a former ISA president, American Soybean Association leader, United Soybean Board member and as a U.S. Soybean Export Council chairman. He played a critical role in pushing for more planting flexibility in the farm program and the result was major expansion of soybean acres across the country.

They were both honored at the annual awards banquet in Des Moines last week.
