Both the Perry boys and girls basketball teams fell at ADM on Thursday night by the scores of 74-68 and 55-34, respectively. The contests were originally scheduled for Tuesday, but were postponed due to weather.
In the girl’s game, Perry trailed 15-9 after one quarter, but ADM’s stifling defense held the Jayettes to just 4 points over the next two quarters. ADM led by as much as 33, receiving contributions from a number of Tigers. Sydney Bertman matched her total from the first meeting with 16, while Sydney Canney finished with 13. Grace Marburger was the lone Jayette in double figures, scoring 14 points on the night. Perry is now 8-10 (4-7) on the season.
In the boy’s game, it was a back and forth contest with Tajen Ross scoring a game-high 34 points, and Shammond Ivory scoring 31. ADM’s lead grew to 10 with just a few minutes remaining in the game, but Perry would go on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 2. The Bluejays missed a three-pointer that would’ve given them a 1 point lead, and ADM hit 8 straight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
The Bluejays fall to 9-8 (6-5) on the year, both boys and girls teams will be back in action tomorrow night as they return home for a matchup with Winterset.
