The ADM Tiger basketball squads went 1-1 against the Toreadors last night in Boon.
The Lady Tigers got off to a very un-auspicious start to the game and just couldn’t manage to claw their way back to a manageable deficit last night. That’ll sometimes happen when you face the 14th ranked team in class 4A as was the case with Boon as the Lady Toreadors came into last night’s match up also second in the Raccoon River Conference. The Toreadors took away ADM’s bread and butter offensive style as Boon held a Tiger team who had put up 15 three pointers in the last three games to zero three pointers on the night. The Toreadors used high pressure zone and double team defense to keep ADM off balance from the perimeter and never let the Tigers get comfortable in the paint. Boon took a 26-14 lead into the half and outscored the Tigers in the second half 34-19 to take the win by the final score of 60-33. Sydney Bertman led all Tiger scoring for the third straight game with 8 points followed by Jacobsen with 7 points.
With the loss the Tigers will now fall to 10-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
After a high scoring affair against the Blue Jays Thursday night, the ADM boys were held to under their 70 point per game average last night. The Tigers shot well under their average per quarter last night after getting off to a slow start ending the first quarter up by one in a 13-12 score. ADM’s leading scorer Tajen Ross was held to just 8 points on the contest but received help from the rest of the Tigers squad. ADM made each basket count all the way down to the final seconds of the fourth quarter after the Tigers blew a 20 point lead as Matt Larson sealed the deal with a slew of last second free throws. ADM came out victorious by the final score of 64-58 in a late game thriller as they now improve to 11-7 overall and 9-3 in conference play. Payton Conrad sported a new number and led all Tiger scoring with 17 points
Next up for both Tigers squads is a road conference double header next Tuesday at Carlisle. Girls game set to commence at 6:00 and boys game set to tip off at 7:30.
