A Kentucky Man Sentenced to Probation in Greene County District Court

A Kentucky man was recently sentenced in Greene County District Court for an October incident.

According to court documents, 28 year-old Matthew Ehlers of Henderson, Kentucky pled guilty to two aggravated misdemeanors for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and eluding. His prison sentence was suspended and he was sentenced to probation for two years for each charge, with both sentences to run concurrently.

The charge stems from a high speed chase on October 9th on Highway 30 after a Greene County Sheriff’s deputy was looking for a possible intoxicated driver at the Janco Motel in Grand Junction. Ehlers took off in a stolen car from Farner Bocken Company in Carroll, reaching speeds of 130 miles-per-hour. The tires hit stop sticks on the highway in Boone and the chase eventually ended in a ditch on Iowa Highway 17.

Ehlers was originally charged with a felony for theft and serious misdemeanors for eluding, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The charges were pled to aggravated misdemeanors and the drug charges were dismissed.

Ehlers was also ordered to pay $1,952.50 in court costs, fines and surcharges.
