Friday, February 5th

A deputy was advised of the possible theft of medications from a residence in the 800 block of Terrace Avenue.

A deputy checked a vehicle in the 800 block of Grant Street in Scranton regarding snow ordnance parking on the street. A citation was issued to the vehicle owner for a vehicle parked on the street during a snow removal period.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff investigated the theft of a car license plate from a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of 235th Street.

A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the 2000 block of 220th Street. A 2006 Ford F 150 pickup being driven by Hunter Lee Schmidt 27, of Elk Horn, Iowa, was westbound on Highway 30 when he lost control of his truck due to black ice. The pickup entered the south ditch and struck a utility pole. Schmidt was not injured but his vehicle sustained considerable damage. The utility pole was not damaged.

A deputy was advised of a gas drive off from the Sparky’s One Stop in Churdan. The deputy will be reviewing the store video to determine the identity of the car.

A deputy checked a vehicle that was in the ditch on 230th Street , west of T Avenue. Due to the road conditions the vehicle was not towed at that time. No state report was needed due to any personal injuries or damage to the car.

Saturday, February 6th

A deputy spoke with a resident in the 2400 block of 250th Street about a trespassing concern.

A deputy assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 700 block of South Elm Street in Jefferson.

A deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of Terrace Avenue to help mediate a personal property civil issue.

A deputy was unable to locate a reported erratic and careless driver on Highway 30 between Scranton and Jefferson.

Sunday, February 7th

A deputy checked a vehicle that had slid into the ditch on Highway 144 near 260th Street. No damage was reported to the car or injuries to the driver.

A deputy was dispatched for a single vehicle roll-over accident that occurred on N Avenue and just north of 150th Street. A 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup being driven by Matthew Seth Losee 41, of rural Paton, was southbound on N Avenue when he reportedly hit an ice patch and his vehicle entered the ditch, rolling onto its top. Losee was not injured but his pickup sustained major damage.

A deputy was advised of two dogs running at large in the 1600 block of L Avenue. The two black and white spaniels are being detained at that rural residence until the owner is located.

A deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of Cartwright Street in Rippey to help mediate a verbal domestic altercation.

A deputy was dispatched for an open door at a residence in the 200 block of East Hager Street in Grand Junction. The deputy and the homeowner determined that the door may have been blown open by the wind.

A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle accident on N Avenue just south of 140th Street. Gary Allen Buelt 50, of Fort Dodge, reported that he was northbound on N Avenue when a gust of wind caused him to lose control of his 2002 Ford pickup and it entered the west ditch. Gary Buelt was not injured but his pickup sustained considerable damage. Buelt was given a ride back to Jefferson by the deputy.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
