Another new aspect will be incorporated into this year’s Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson.
Greene County Chamber Tourism and Events Coordinator Angie Pedersen says The Rivieras from Des Moines will perform during the opening ceremonies on Friday night of the festival.
“Since it is the 50th anniversary of the bell tower, it was built in 1966. So we found a band that would specialize in that era’s music. These guys are awesome and they will be playing for an hour before opening ceremonies. So we hope to pack that square to get lots of people up there for the Tower of Fame Award and enjoy the opening ceremonies this year.”
Other activities and events include full plaza stage entertainment with acts such as the Rhythm Room Dancers and the Town and Country Band, along with a wine tasting event at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens, PopRocks and a chainsaw artist.
There’s still time to submit logos to the Chamber to be used for this year’s festival. To submit designs, contact the Chamber office at 386-2155.
Planning meetings are the last Monday of every month.
