If there was an award to the most improved team in any one conference from last season to this season, you’d be hard pressed to find any team more deserving than the ADM Boys basketball team. From a team that consistently sat at the bottom of the Raccoon River Conference for the majority of last season to a team who now sits at second in conference record, the Tigers come a long way. ADM didn’t just pull off a massive turn around, but they did so with a bunch of new faces, and those new faces helped turn around a 3-19 team to a 12-7 team heading into the final two games of the 2015-16 regular season.
ADM boys head basketball coach Aaron Mager and his Tiger team have catapulted in almost every single statistical category known (and probably unknown) to basketball. From averaging a mere 55 points per game last season to averaging just under 70 points per game this season, the Tigers have transformed into a whole new team. ADM isn’t simply doing well in the conference, but in all of class 3A. Heading into tonight’s game against the blue jays the Tigers rank 9th in class 3A in scoring (1225), 10th in the class in rebounds (602), and 15th in class 3A in assists (251).
Head coach Aaron Mager told Raccoon Valley Radio just how refreshing this season has been and gives a lot of credit to the hard work and dedication of his players.
“Very happy with them when you compare this season to last season. The kids have been fun to work with and they’ve worked hard; they’ve taken a year-round approach to working at basketball which is refreshing and good,” explained coach Mager.
The Tigers look for their 13th win on the season tonight as they take on the Bondurant-Farrar Blue Jays starting at 7:30 pm on your home for ADM Tiger basketball, K107.9FM and online at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
