The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors failed to decide on a fiscal year 2017 raise for county employees Thursday morning.
Prior to the vote, department heads including Sheriff Marty Arganbright and General Services Manager Ron Allen urged the Supervisors to not consider health insurance costs when setting the salary increase, noting its unfairness to employees that don’t receive health insurance benefits from the County.
A motion made by Supervisor Jerry Caraher for a zero-percent salary increase failed 2-2, with Caraher and Mike Dickson voting ‘aye’, and Everett Grasty and Clifford Carney voting ‘nay’. A motion made by Grasty for a one-percent salary increase failed 2-2, with Grasty and Carney voting ‘aye’, and Caraher and Dickson voting ‘nay’. Supervisor Tom Rutledge was absent for both votes.
