Today is a big day of postseason sports for students attending Greene County High School. Nick Schroeder and Ethan Woodruff will be swimming for Boone today through an athletic sharing agreement at the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s State Meet in Marshalltown starting at 12 p.m. Schroeder has the seventh fastest qualifying time in the 50 yard freestyle and eighth fastest in the 100 freestyle. Schroeder and Woodruff are both in Boone’s 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Those relays will attempt to improve their 22nd and 24th place qualifying times.
Three Greene County wrestlers are in action at noon today in Webster City for a Class 2A District tournament. Kane Borgeson (113), Tommy Bradshaw (152), and Isaiah Yoder (160) will take to the mats in an effort to qualify for the Feb. 18-20 State tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. There are four wrestlers in each weight class and the top two at each weight advance to State.
The girls’ basketball team from Greene County High opens Class 2A Region 8 tournament play at 7 p.m. tonight in Pocahontas vs. undefeated and number one rated Pocahontas Area. The Rams are 3-17 and the Indians are 21-0. The game can be heard on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
