The Greene County boys’ basketball team last played on Feb. 12 and they won’t play again until Feb. 22 when they travel to Harlan to face Carroll High in Class 3A District 1 opening round action at 6:30 p.m. Harlan plays Denison-Schleswig following the Rams and Tigers.
Coach Jeramie Hinote’s team is using this week to prepare for a Carroll team that is having an off year by their standards at just 7-13 with one regular season game remaining. The Tigers typically not only have winning seasons, but it’s not unusual to see them at or near the top of the Raccoon River Conference standings, and rated in the top 10 of the 3A polls.
Greene County has bounced back from a 3-8 first half of the season and stands at 10-10 overall. The Rams played twice last week and won both games in overtime, and have now won seven of their last nine contests overall including six in a row away from Jefferson.
Monday’s game will be broadcast on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
