The deadline to submit design ideas for Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s ‘Ring Out for Art’ contest is the end of this month.
Tower View Team Chair Deb McGinn says their committee wanted to start a project like this from a similar contest in Woodbine with their ‘Stalkwalk’ with sculptures highlighting a corn stalk, whereas ‘Ring Out for Art’ highlights the Mahanay Bell Tower.
“Tower View Team as you know, we’re charged with bringing new art to Jefferson in surprising places and for public art especially. We’re asking that every piece of sculpture that is entered will have some form of a bell inside, or on it or somewhere hidden in it.”
Designs are needed to enter the contest by February 29th’s deadline. Once all submissions are collected, a selection committee will narrow the field to six potential winners. Those artists will then submit their sculptures for the public to vote on during the Bell Tower Festival in June.
The winner will receive $2,000 from Home State Bank, second place will get $1,000 and third place will receive $500. For more information or for an application, click the link below.
