national weather serviceSpring is right around the corner, which means the Raccoon Valley Radio staff and our local storm spotters are preparing for the severe weather season.

The National Weather Service is again hosting storm spotter training classes in our local counties.

The Greene County training will take place at the new Grand Junction Community Building on Thursday March 3rd from 7 to 8:30pm.

Guthrie and Adair counties spotter training will happen at the Menlo Community Building on Wednesday, March 16th from 7 to 8:30pm.

And Dallas County’s training takes place Tuesday, March 29th from 6:30 until 8pm at the Washington Township School.

The training sessions are open to the public and all area first responders are encouraged to attend.  Meteorologists with the Des Moines National Weather Service office will share multimedia presentations with attendees about identifying and reporting severe weather, climatology and threats in Iowa and safety.
