Nearly a decade ago when Greene County, then Jefferson-Scranton, started competing in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, the league had a 14-school, two division alignment. Today, the conference has one division and nine schools. Greene County Activities Director Dean Lansman talked about future plans for the league. “Right now we have a committee working on realignment. We would truly like to get up to a 15-16 team conference where we would split it into large and small like it was a few years ago. We working on that, what everything would look like. Our committee has put together a list of schools we would send out possible invitations to meet with them and see what their interest level would be in joining our conference.”

Coach Lansman added is a long term plan that would not be put together in a short amount of time. “This isn’t something that’s going to happen overnight. In all reality, it’s something that is probably two years away from maybe taking shape.” Coach Lansman added that travel becomes quite an issue anytime you look at a conference.
