The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office had 30 people apply for an open deputy position.

17 of those candidates recently showed up in Guthrie Center to perform a physical fitness test and Police Officer Selection Test (POST). Candidates that passed both tests were invited to interview for the position with Sheriff Marty Arganbright and deputies.

Arganbright says out of the 17 individuals, only one is a certified officer but all would be good choices for the job. “All the candidates are always pretty much outstanding. Even though most of the candidates aren’t certified, we realize that everyone starts out that way. You just have to get your foot in the door and get certified, but all of the people that interviewed with us were good people.”
