Scranton Community CenterEveryone is invited to the seventh annual 6-on-6 basketball fundraiser for the Scranton Community Center.

Community center committee member Dawn Rudolph says the evening starts with a hamburger or pork burger meal with chips, beans and a beverage served from 5 to 6:30pm. The crowd will be entertained by the Town and Country Band before and at halftime of the basketball game, which begins at 6:30pm between the Greene County Women and the Ames Shooting Stars. She points out that the basketball game is always the highlight of the fundraiser.

“It’s a part of Iowa girls basketball history. The last tournament (in Iowa) was in 1992 at Veteran’s Auditorium. I get a lot of people that just love to come back and see that 6-on-6 (game) or to bring their children to show them how they played basketball when they were in high school.”

There will also be door prizes given away throughout the evening. Tickets for the event are $10 for anyone 13 and older and $8 for those 12 and younger. The proceeds will be used to continue to improve the community center as well as additional adult and youth programming.

Tickets are available at the door and can be purchased in advance at Scranton City Hall, Peoples Trust and Savings Bank locations in Scranton and Jefferson and at Home State Bank.
