Greene County’s high school basketball players will be honored tonight at the annual awards night and potluck supper in the high school cafeteria in Jefferson at 6 p.m. Coach Jeramie Hinote will be naming letter winners and other awards.
The Rams were 2-6 at the break for the holidays, then 3-8 after their first week of games in January. The team won seven of their final nine regular season games to get even at 10-10 before losing in the opening round of Class 3A district tournament play for a final record of 10 wins and 11 losses. Greene County had a 9-7 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference record.
Coach Dean Lyons and the girls’ basketball team held a private season ending event. Letters were earned by seniors Cassidy Adamson, Cheyenne Anderson, Brooke Hayes, Sunny Mobley, and Nicole Rohner. Juniors lettering were Kenna Marquardt, Hannah Promes, and Taylor Wessling. Lettering as sophomores were Onica Delp, Samantha Hardaway, Reagan Lamoureux, Laurin Lyons, and Ashley Millard. No other girls’ awards were presented, according to Coach Lyons. The girls were 3-18 overall and 3-13 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.
