restaurant duoThe choice of restaurants in the City of Adair is small but mighty.

Two local restaurants, Zipp’s Pizzaria and the Chuckwagon Restaurant, have been nominated as having some of the best food in the state.

Zipp’s is one of eight restaurants selected to compete in Travel Iowa’s Pizza Pie Madness Bracket. Owner Jim Zimmerline says the promotion he’s receiving from Travel Iowa and statewide media is a great benefit, even if he doesn’t win the contest. “I think what they’re doing to promote Iowa is a great thing, whether I’m in it or not. Even if I lose, I’m still a winner.”

The Chuckwagon Restaurant was nominated by the public to compete in the Iowa Beef Industry Council’s and Iowa Cattlemen’s Association’s 2016 Best Burger in Iowa contest. General Manager Kim Reha says she was excited when she learned the news this week, and hopes the contest encourages new customers to stop by. “I certainly hope that it will bring people in the door to try out our burgers.”

The first round of voting in the pizza contest closes tomorrow at noon. You can vote for Zipp’s by clicking here: https://www.facebook.com/IowaTourism/app/36495350702?brandloc=DISABLE&app_data=chk-56e9cc3d40552

The burger contest will be decided by an anonymous judging panel.

Zimmerline will join us today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County to tell us more about the contest. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
