Jefferson LibraryThe adult winter reading program at Jefferson Public Library recently completed.

Library Director Jane Millard says the program continues to grow with 43 participants compared to last year’s 39. Thirty people completed the program, which is up from last year’s 26. The number of books that individuals read were 299. Participants were encouraged to “Get Your Mitts on a Good Book” by not only reading, but doing other activities in their packets. Millard points out how the program came to a close last weekend.

“We get together once, which we did last Saturday, and have a book discussion and we share the books that we have read. It’s fun to sit around the room to listen. You always get lots of ideas of other books that you would like to read. It’s a great thing to do in the winter time to enjoy reading as a winter pastime.”

For those that complete the program, prizes were given away by the 15 area businesses and organizations that sponsored it. The grand prize winner was Corinne Bancroft who won a $100 Fareway gift card, Elaine Wiggins read the most books with 41 and Linda Rice was the runner up.

The adult winter reading program was from January through March 5th.
