Greene County High School is on Spring Break until March 28, which is also the first day of the outdoor track and field season. The Rams host the Greene County Coed Early Bird Meet at Linduska Field in Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. Paton-Churdan is among the other schools involved in the non-scoring meet.
About 30 boys and 22 girls are out for track and field at Greene County HS. One of the boys is junior Logan Lansman, who talked about the numbers. “I think the numbers are good, better than they have been, and a couple kids that should have been out last year went out this year.” A bigger and stronger looking athlete, Lansman told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s trained at the Jefferson Fieldhouse in the PXP program for some time, which helped. “It really helps out with your endurance and speed.” A starter on the football team, Lansman talked about track and field and how it helps in football. “I think it helps with your explosiveness and quickness all over the field. It helps you with endurance as well because you don’t tired as much as if you didn’t go out for track.”
Lansman is the son of Ram head football coach and activities director Dean Lansman and his wife, Heather.
