One of the more emotional moments of the Perry Bluejay basketball season banquet occurred when Head Coach Ned Menke presented longtime assistant coach Jim Richmond with one of the game nets from Perry’s state qualifying win in Atlantic.  Richmond has served on the Bluejay staff for more than 20 years and this year’s trip to state was his first during his time on the bench.

“Jim has been with this program a long time and I wanted to do something special for him,” added Menke.  “After the win in Atlantic against Glenwood, one of the custodians approached me after we cut down one net and asked if I wanted the other net since they needed to be replaced.  I said absolutely and knew right away what I was going to do with it.  I had it framed and it was a great moment to see his reaction and how much he cares about these kids and this school.”
