Perry basketball coach Ned Menke is set to turn in his resignation as high school basketball coach at this coming Monday’s school board meeting.

Perry basketball coach Ned Menke confirmed to Raccoon Valley Radio Sports that he will turn in his resignation as Perry High School varsity basketball coach effective immediately during this upcoming Monday’s school board meeting.  In a telephone conversation with Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Director Shawn Kenney, Menke emphasized that the decision was strictly made to clear up time for him to pursue a professional and educational advancement within the Perry School system.  According to the school board agenda, The Perry school board will consider a co-principal Administrative team at the Elementary School between Menke and current Associate Principal Joel Martin for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year.

Menke guided Perry to the program’s first state tournament since 1988 and was named the state of Iowa’s 2016 Character Counts Recipient along with the Perry Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year. Menke told Kenney that it was a tough decision and that he broke the news to his team on Friday.  The Iowa Assessments test were taking place this week at the high school and Menke waited until Friday to tell his team so it wouldn’t be a distraction for the students during test week.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have much more on this breaking story Tuesday including comments from Menke after Monday night’s School Board meeting.
