Friday, April 8th

A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of Jefferson Street in Scranton to investigate criminal mischief to a window.

A deputy was advised of a gas drive off from the Pit Stop in Paton. A vehicle description and plate number was provided to the deputy. The deputy did speak with the driver of the vehicle and advised her to return and pay for the fuel.

A deputy was advised by a resident in the 1500 block of U Avenue of receiving an automated phone call from the IRS, stating that they were to call a specific phone number to settle a tax debt. They realized that this was a phone scam and did not comply.

A deputy assisted two Jefferson Police Officers with responding to the Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room for a belligerent male subject.

A deputy spoke with a male subject at the law enforcement center about the proper title for a motorcycle. It was discovered that the male purchased a motorcycle that was stolen.

A deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of South 14th Street in Grand Junction to investigate the report of youth discharging a BB gun. The youth were not located at that time.

A deputy spoke with a Churdan resident about a child custody civil issue.

Saturday, April 9th

Two deputies assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with a domestic family dispute in Jefferson.

A deputy assisted in finding transportation for a female subject that was needing a ride to a shelter in Ames.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with a domestic call in Jefferson.

A deputy was advised of a private vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed transporting a small child to the Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room after the child  had tumbled to the floor while in  a car carrier. The child was evaluated and found to be unhurt.

A deputy was advised of a careless and erratic driver in the Grand Junction area. The vehicle was later located in Jefferson.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff and K-9 Leo, assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with checking a vehicle after a traffic stop in Jefferson.

A deputy was out of position and unable to locate a reported erratic and careless driver on 235th Street near Quint Avenue heading westbound to Jefferson.

A deputy assisted an Iowa State Patrol Officer with a traffic stop on Highway 30 near Hillcrest Avenue and the subsequent arrest of Danny Lee Thorn 30, of Glidden, for OWI – 3rd  Offense.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with locating a reported vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed from Scranton to Jefferson on 237th Street. The Jefferson Officer subsequently arrested Craig Allen Kinsey 46, of Jefferson on numerous charges after the traffic stop.

Sunday, April 10th

A deputy was asked to check the status of a vehicle that was experiencing mechanical problems on N Avenue near 170th Street. The driver of the vehicle, Nicole Michelle Onnen 32, of Des Moines, was subsequently arrested  by the deputy for Driving While Barred.

The Sheriff was dispatched to investigate the report of a juvenile female that was missing from her home in the 400 block of South 12th Street in Grand Junction. The eight year old had ridden her bike with two other youth to the east side of Grand Junction and then returned home several  hours later.

A deputy spoke with a resident  in Scranton about hearing gunshots within the city limits.

A deputy was dispatched to the Pit Stop in Paton to investigate a reported suspicious person loitering near the store. The deputy transported the female to Grand Junction where she was given a ride to her home in Des Moines.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
